Advanced Dependencies
Microsoft’s newest feature enhancement allows advanced dependencies to be added in the schedule for each task. This feature can be utilized by adding dependencies directly in the Project for the Web app, or in Microsoft Professional, prior to importing the schedule from Microsoft Pro Professional (MPP) file into Project for the Web. Prior to this new feature, only limited (default) dependencies were included in Project for the Web.
Set non-default dependencies between tasks by inputting the task number it should depend on. A screen appears with dependency types that task should be linked to, such as FS (Finish-to-Start), FF (Finish-to-Finish), SS (Start-to-Start), and SF (Start-to-Finish) dependencies.
The value of this new feature allows from more granular control of project tasks and the overall timeline of the schedule. This also provides a clearer timeline view for more complex schedules that have advanced dependencies.
Grid conditional Coloring
Another new feature released is the grid conditional coloring feature, which allows the user to create rules on various project fields to highlight patterns in the project data. Many project managers
find this feature appealing for color coordinating tasks. This feature is like conditional coloring in excel, but allows the user to utilize it in the schedule directly in the app.
Users can create conditional coloring for existing task fields, such as duration, with specific parameters if a task is more, less, or equal to a given duration, it will be outlined with your selected color.
